Witnessing
Witnessing is the responsibility and privilege of every believer. It is how we share the goodness of Jesus Christ, the truth of the Gospel, and the power of a changed life with others.
At the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc., we believe witnessing is not limited to the pulpit, the altar, or the church building. Witnessing can happen in everyday life — at the grocery store, in a restaurant, at school, on the job, in a hospital room, in a conversation with a neighbor, or even in a moment when someone simply needs encouragement.
A witness should be truthful, loving, and relatable above all knowing what is the need, and tell them how we can meet their need. We are called to meet people where they are without compromising the Word of God. Whether speaking to a server, a teacher, a student, a lawyer, a coworker, a family member, or a stranger, the goal is to point people to Jesus Christ with wisdom, compassion, and sincerity.
Our testimony is also a powerful part of witnessing. The Bible teaches that they overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. When we share what God has done, how He saved us, how He kept us, and how He changed our lives, others are able to see that the power of God is still working today.
Witnessing is not about winning arguments or proving ourselves right. It is about helping souls find Jesus. Every believer should prayerfully seek opportunities to share Christ, invite others to church, encourage the discouraged, and speak life to those who may not know where to begin.
Whether through a conversation, an invitation, an act of kindness, or a personal testimony, witnessing allows us to be lights in the world and ambassadors for Jesus Christ.
