  • Edletha Owens

    Edletha Owens is a recent graduate, in political science, of Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Edletha graduated as a Magna Cum Laude graduate with a 3.6 cumulative grade point average.  Her honors included Presidential Scholar, a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society, and a member of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, National Dean’s List, while also being named to be in the listing of Who’s Who Among Students at Colleges and Universities. Edletha is the daughter of Deacon Edwin and Sis. Phyllis Owens of Florence, SC.

  • Jessica Epps

    Jessica Epps- of Winthrop University is in the College of Arts and Sciences. She‘s on the Dean’s List, recipient of Close Scholarship (2000-2004) based upon Community Service, Close Scholar Graduate Award 2004, Life Scholarship recipient (2000- 2004), Club Med Secretary, Winthrop Professional Development School Grant Participant,  and National Dean’s List nominee. Jessica is the daughter of Deacon Leroy and Sis. Marie Epps of Columbia, SC. 

  • Keith Harrison

    Keith Harrison- of Florence-Darlington Technical College is a recent recipient of an Associates degree of Health Science in Radiologist Technology. Keith is a recipient of the Life Scholarship for having at least a 3.0 GPA, employed by McLeod Regional Medical Center in the Radiology department, and a SC State licensed Certified Radio Logic Technologist, and also registered with the American society of Radio Logic Technologist. Keith is the son of Harry Lee and Sister Jean M. Harrison, Sr. of Florence, SC.

  • Latoya Jenkins

    Latoya Jenkins is a freshman in the School of Honors at Benedict College, with a 3.81 GPA, a SCAMPS Scholarship recipient, Target Scholarship recipient, SC Tuition Grant recipient, HOPE Scholarship recipient, and on Benedict College President’s List. Latoya is the daughter of LaShaundre Jenkins and the granddaughter of Sis. Sarah Jenkins of Columbia, SC.

    Lisa Felder- attends Midlands Technical College where she is majoring in Nursing. She works as a Beautician while attending school. She also is an active Volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands. She is a member of the church in Killian, SC.

  • Shanta Stevens

    Shanta Stevens - Columbia College Scholar, South Carolina L.I.F.E Scholar, Columbia College Presidential Scholar, Leadership Boot camp Nominee, National Dean’s List honoree, South Carolina Teacher Certification Program, and carries a 3.65 GPA.  She has also taught as a teacher’s candidate at Scottish Rite Center Childhood Language Disorders and Leaphart Elementary.  She is also a volunteer in a program that assists children with their homework.   • Charity Watson

    Charity Watson - She was president of the Student Body at Columbia High School and finished third in her class with a 4.5 GPA.  She is currently a Furman Scholar with a 3.8 GPA on the Dean’s List and has been inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, a National Honor Society and Pi Mu Epsilon, a National Mathematics Honor Society. Recently she was one of two freshmen chosen to participate in a Mathematics contest at Austin Peay University.  She is also South Carolina Palmetto Scholar.  Volunteer work includes working with Meals On Wheels and tutoring children. Charity is the daughter of Elder Henry and Sister Carrie Watson of Saluda, SC.

  • Alisha Alford

    Alisha Alford, Sophomore, Spelman College.  High School GPA 4.16, was only person in her class to receive an Academic Bar for having straight A’s all four years, and ranked third in her high school graduating class. Community Service work in high school included visitation to home for the elderly and home for abandoned children; helped with Leukemia, Muscular Dystrophy, and book drives; and mentored freshmen.  Alisha received the following scholarships for college:  Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Clayton County Employee Foundation, George Alden, and Georgia HOPE.  Alisha’s college cumulative GPA is 3.58 and she is on the Dean’s List.  She is also eligible for the sophomore honor society for which she is expecting an invitation.  Even though she has just begun her college career, Alisha has advised high school and college students about money management and financial literacy.  She has also helped to facilitate a Leadership Symposium and Conference, and the Alumni Reunion. Alisha is the daughter of Deacon Alonzo and Romenia Alford of Atlanta, GA.

  • Ariella Myers

    Ariella Myers is a rising sophomore at USC Aiken where she majors in Biology. Ariella has received the HOPE Scholarship. She is the daughter of Sis. Martha Myers of Denmark, SC.

  • Eldrin L. Deas

    Eldrin L. Deas, Junior, Morehouse College.  Eldrin is in the Dual Degree Engineering Program between Morehouse and Georgia Tech.  He received scholarships from Morehouse College, and the Georgia HOPE.  Eldrin also received invitations to be in the Honors Program at Morehouse and the State University of West Georgia.  He recently received a cash incentive award for engineering along with a certificate. His most recent community service work was with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.  Eldrin also tutored several college students in calculus, and in engineering graphics. Eldrin is the son of Elder Earnest and Sis. Janis Deas of Atlanta , GA. 

  • Kenesha Jackson

    Kenesha Jackson, Senior, State University of West Georgia.  Kenesha would be an up coming senior but has applied for the nursing program at the Medical College of Augusta, Georgia. She has an over all GPA of 3.10, and was most recently on the Dean’s List for the Spring Quarter, 2004 with a GPA of 3.75. The Women’s Auxiliary department has applauded Kenesha’s volunteer work singing at a local nursing home, and reading and playing with children at the Nicholas House, a temporary residence for mothers and children in various transitional stages.     Kristin Smokes graduated from Barnwell High School in 2002.  She was named in Who's Who Among High School Students in 2001.  She was a recipient of the Hope and Big Seven Association scholarships.  She attends Charleston Southern University and is a rising junior.  Kristin is majoring in Nursing. Kristin is the daughter of Bro. James & Sis. Mildred Smokes of Denmark, SC.

    Carrie Sumter was accepted into the CNA (Certified Nurses Assistant)Program during her senior year in high school. She has received her Certified Nurses Assistant Certificate and attends Midlands Technical College in the Nursing program. Carrie is the daughter of Brother Anthony and Sister Terrilyn Sumter of Columbia, SC

    Justin Smokes graduated from Barnwell High School in 2001.  He is aNational Guardsman.  He was deployed to Iraq in April 2003.  God blessed Justin to return home after a year's tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Justin is the son of Bro. James & Sis. Mildred Smokes of Denmark, SC.
