| Elder Robert J.C. Mingo, a resident of Florence, South
Carolina committed his life to the Lord at the early age of 16 years
old. His stedfastness and love for the Word of God has been the strong
tower that has held him to this day. Elder Mingo strong stand he takes
for God's Word without compromise; is the example he leads for the flock
of God. In November, 1967 Elder Mingo joined the US Army where he was stationed in Germany; for (2) years of service. On April 18, 1970, Elder Mingo was united in holy matrimony to Sister Dorothy Deas. To this union was born seven children: Marchyco, Robert D., Tracy, Tisha, LaRhonda, Karen and Ronald all of whom are baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost. Elder Mingo employed with Seaboard Coastline Railroad was transferred to Jacksonville, Florida June 1979. Instead of sinking into despair, he used this event to spread the gospel. The first church for the Jacksonville Assembly was located at 2297 Edison Ave. In September 1979, Elder Mingo baptized Deacon George Spikes in the name of Jesus Christ, this started the beginning of the Progressive Church in Jacksonville, The church experienced sizable growth. In 1986, our building was damaged by fire. We then moved to 155 West 16th Street where we are located today. The Lord has greatly blessed us, adding souls to the church, Elder Mingo is continuing to strive in the Lord to help the saints present their very best to God. Teaching us to always trust God, live a holy life, that it maybe pleasing in his sight. Elder Mingo is truly a Man of Faith In God. |
