Pastor and Sister Earnest L. Deas

Elder Earnest Leonardo Deas is one of 12 children born to Thomas and Uneedia Deas of Florence, South Carolina.  He was baptized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the young age of nine.

Elder Deas is married to Janis Brown Deas, who works faithfully with him in the church.  To this union were born three children:  Dawn Nyasha, Emmanuel LaKing, and Eldrin Lamar.

After receiving his early education in the schools of South Carolina, he moved to Atlanta, GA and attended Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  Realizing the need for more in-depth study of God's Word, Elder Deas enrolled in the Interdenominational Theological Center and earned a Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Counseling.

After teaching Bible Class in the home of Sister Grace McGill in 1975, a Progressive Church was established in Atlanta, GA with, then, Minister Deas as pastor.  He was ordained as an Elder during the 47th Annual Holy Convocation in 1991 under the leadership of Bishop Edward Smith.  The Atlanta church moved to its present location in 1985 after renting and holding services in various other locations.  The church, located at 2857 Zane Grey Drive in Atlanta, is now paid in full.

Elder Deas is truly a man of great faith in our great and all powerful God. He has been employed with the City of Atlanta for over 20 years and also serves as a chaplain. Today, Elder Deas continues to work diligently and faithfully in the Lord's vineyard, and firmly believes that "there is nothing too had for God."
